SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport firefighters battled a blaze that destroyed an abandoned house in triple-degree heat Thursday afternoon.

It happened in the 2800 block of Standard Oil Road. By the time firefighters arrived shortly after 1:20 p.m., the building was fully involved.

Firefighters took a defensive approach in putting out the flames while attempting to protect structures around the house.

11 units worked to battle the flames in the extreme heat, rotating crews in an effort to prevent overheating and exhaustion.

They had it under control by 1:53 p.m. There were no injuries. Firefighters  investigators say there were two points of origin where the fire was set, and that the vacant home had no utilities.

They say the fire is suspicious and the investigation into the exact cause continues.
