The first season of the Trinity Police Department's reality show, Fat Cops is officially over. The 10th episode aired this past Saturday and of course we all want to know, will there be a season 2?
It's been an adventure for the Trinity Police Department and cast of CMTt's Fat Cops and the end of the first season is both happy and sad for the officers.
Chief Steven Jones says, "It's kind of bitter-sweet for us as a department and me personally I was having some nostalgic moments."
And the big question for loyal fans and followers of the cop comedy is, will there be a season 2? The answer could come as soon as Wednesday.
"Tomorrow our executive producer and our agency is going to have a meeting and discuss the strategy for the season 2. We don't know what's going to happen from there," said Jones. We're all kind of in the dark."
CMT is also being tight-lipped about Fat Cops future. A spokesperson with CMT released a statement today saying in part: "Since the re-launching of Fat Cops this summer, the show has consistently outperformed its time period and drawn a loyal fan following. A decision to renew the series has not yet been determined."
"We're all on pins and needles, waiting to hear an answer," said Jones.
But the chief says no matter what happens, they all had a great time.
"Whatever they want to do we had a great experience," said Jones. "It kind of made it fun and we are serious around here. We do have a serious job but it was nice to do a little bit of spoof of a little bit of the comedy side around here and it was a little bit over the top but it was fun."
The Chief says showing the public that cops are real people too has been one of the best things to come out of the show.
"We may have to be out here to write you tickets and do our job but we are also human and we also have a little bit of love here and there to break up the monotony," said Jones.
