NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Louisiana State Police have identified the second youth to die in an accident involving an ATV in the ArkLaTex in less than a week.

Louisiana State Police Lt. Barry Branton says the latest happened along Holman Loop near U.S. Hwy 71 in Campti just before 3:30 Monday afternoon.

Officials say 12-year-old Hunter Cason was driving a 2013 Honda Rancher ATV east on Holman Loop when he lost control and went off the right side of the road. The ATV rolled over and hit two trees ejecting Cason. Cason was pronounced dead at the scene.

Life Air rescue confirms they were called to the scene, but that Cason died before they arrived.

Officials say Cason was not wearing a helmet. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Less than a week ago, a Coushatta teen died while out riding his ATV along Doc Martin Road just east of LA Hwy 507 in Red River Parish. State Police say 16-year-old Dakotta Huckabay lost control in a curve and went off the side of the road Wednesday, striking a dirt embankment. State Police say Huckabay was not wearing a helmet.
