A former East Texas police officer and pastor has been found guilty of two counts of indecency with a child.

Eddie Nichols, 50, was arrested in September 2011 after two teenage girls told school counselors that he had touched them inappropriately. He was arrested again in December on a third charge of sexual indecency with a child.

Nichols was a deputy with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office when he was arrested. Upon arrest, he was immediately fired.

At the time the incidents occurred, Nichols was an officer with the Marshall Police Department, where he also served as the department's chaplain.

The trial in Harrison County took one week. It took the jury 3 hours to deliberate. The sentencing phase of the trial is set to begin Tuesday morning.
