Three correctional officers at the Natchitoches Parish Detention center have been suspended without pay for 30 days in connection with the escape of an inmate.
According to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr., the suspensions are without pay, for "violations of standard operating procedures" at the detention center.
23-year-old Kenneth Dewayne Hardy Jr. escaped on July 24. He was discovered missing around 11:30 p.m. that night. He had recently been arrested for failure to appear in court on narcotics offenses and possession of firearms by a person convicted of a felony.
Hardy was captured by the US Marshal's Fugitive Apprehension Task Force just over a week later on Thursday evening during a traffic stop near Freeport, Texas.
NPSO Criminal Investigators are also looking into possible suspects that assisted Hardy while on the run from authorities, according to NPSO Asst. Chief of Investigations Reginald Turner.
