Politifact Virginia: Dems question Cuccinelli's stance on medicare, SS

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The ads in the race for governor are starting to come in droves, and in the Politifact Virginia report we are going to do our best to fact check the ones that might take some liberties.

Like this one from the Democratic party of Virginia.

"In his book, Cuccinelli questions whether medicare and Social Security should exist and said people are dependent on government."

Did Ken Cuccinelli really suggest that two legacy federal programs should not exist? According to Politifact Virginia, that claim is mostly false.

Sean Gorman says Cuccinelli is concerned about the expansion of the programs - but has never said they should "not exist."

"The ad ignores the fact that, in another passage in the book, Cuccinelli specifically says that he's not questioning the existence of Social Security and medicare," said Gorman.
