BOWIE CO., TX (KSLA) -

Bowie County sheriff's investigators say they've recovered thousands of dollars worth of guns, drugs and cash from a home in the Macedonia community in a bust connected to the burglary of a local doctor's home last month.

Investigators announced the value of the items seized in a search of the home totals more than $75,000 and includes more than $12,000 in cash, guns and a "large quantity" of drugs.

The search was executed Monday morning as part of the investigation into the burglary of Dr. Kahlid Malik's home. 31 weapons were taken in that break-in, along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Deputies say a tip led to the search of the Macedonia home. They say along with some of the weapons taken from Malik's home, they discovered items they believe were stolen from at least five other burglaries in the area.

"We believe the owner of that house, or resident there, was trading stolen property for dope, marijuana," says Bowie County sheriff's investigator David Biggar. "He also bought some of the guns with cash that he had made from his dope trade."

Deputies had to dig for some of the goods, as they had been buried after the person who was in possession of them heard news reports of a $10,000 reward for their recovery.

So far, one arrest has been made in connection with the investigation. 24-year-old Kyle Burnett was taken into custody on July 10, after investigators acting on a tip recovered 13 of the weapons stolen from Malik's home and hundreds of rounds of ammo from a storage shed and camper in Simms, Texas.

No additional arrests has been made as a result of Monday's search and seizure, but deputies say it's an ongoing investigation.

The $10,000 reward is still being offered for the return of all of Dr. Malick's weapons. So far, only 16 have been recovered.
