Parkway's Brandon Harris picks LSU

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Parkway quarterback Brandon Harris announced Thursday that he has verbally committed to play college football with the LSU Tigers.

Harris is considered to be the No. 2 duel-threat quarterback in the country by ESPN.com and 247sports.com. He chose LSU over Auburn and Ohio State.

"I went from having 42 offers, down to my top seven, then my top three, and now to LSU," said Harris on the recruiting process. "I'm glad it's all over with and now I'm ready to focus on winning a state championship at Parkway."

Harris told a crowd of people inside the Parkway High School library that he came to the decision after much prayer and consideration with his family. He said he wanted his grandmother to be able to see him play and since Baton Rouge is the closest of his three options it was a "no brainer."

During his junior season, Harris threw for 2,673 yards and 26 touchdowns. He completed 152 of 306 passes. He used his speed to rush for 677 yards, scoring 12 touchdowns. Harris quickly pointed out that he was a pass first quarterback and many of his rushing touchdowns last season came on designed plays.

Harris opening admitted he would recruit some of the other top players across Louisiana to join him at LSU but said, "I won't push them to chance their commitment."
