MORGAN CITY, LA (WAFB) -

Sheriff's deputies have made a second arrest in connection with an attempted armed robbery in which the victim was shot.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office reported Dwayne Skinner, 21, of Morgan City, was taken into custody Tuesday evening on a warrant for attempted armed robbery with a firearm.

Narcotics agents patrolling the Morgan City area said they spotted Skinner and knew he was wanted on a warrant. They said he had synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his pockets. In addition to armed robbery, he faces charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids and possession of drug paraphernalia. No bond is set.

The shooting happened outside a lounge on LA 182 near the Greenwood overpass in Amelia on June 14 around 2 a.m. Investigators said three men walked up to the victim and while they tried to rob him at gunpoint the victim was shot. Deputies added the victim has since been released from the hospital.

SMPSO reported Paul Charles was arrested June 28. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery with a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing.
