DeSoto Parish to host series of rabies awareness meetings
DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -
DeSoto Parish officials are holding a series of meetings to bring awareness about the risks of rabies for unvaccinated pets.
The meeting comes about a month after a pair of skunks captured in the Stonewall area tested positive for the deadly virus that attacks the central nervous system.
Harold Renfro with DeSoto Parish Animal Control along with local veterinarians will take part in four meetings over the next three weeks to give tips on protecting your pets and yourself from rabies.
The first meeting will be held on Thursday, July 18th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stonewall Branch of the DeSoto Parish Library.
The second meeting is set for Tuesday, July 23rd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mansfield Branch of the DeSoto Parish Library.
The third meeting will be at the Logansport Branch of the DeSoto Parish Library on Thursday, July 25th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The final meeting will be on Tuesday, July 30th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pelican Branch of the DeSoto Parish Library.
DeSoto Parish officials would like to remind all pet owners to get their animals vaccinated.
