GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

Gov. Bobby Jindal and officials with Honeywell announced Monday the company will invest $208 million in new manufacturing projects at four sites in Louisiana, with three of them in the Baton Rouge area, creating 190 new jobs.

According to the governor's office, the projects in Baton Rouge (2 locations), Geismar and Shreveport will retain 698 current jobs and create 42 new direct ones. Louisiana Economic Development (LED) estimates all four projects will also result in 148 new indirect jobs. Honeywell estimates construction for the projects will support 469 additional construction jobs.

"We're not ready to declare victory yet, but it is a good sign," said Gov. Bobby Jindal. "We've got more work to do."

Jindal added the company is looking into the possibility of more Louisiana projects with the potential of bringing $1.2 billion in new capital over 10 years. Officials estimate at full investment, the four projects and later ones would create 291 new direct jobs and result in an estimated 1,009 new direct jobs, along with more than 2,400 construction jobs.

"More and more companies are choosing to invest here because of our world class workforce," Jindal explained.

The governor's office said the four initial projects Honeywell is committing to will expand product offerings while improving competitiveness of sites in Caddo, East Baton Rouge and Ascension parishes.
