BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Hundreds lined up on the Louisiana Boardwalk Monday for a chance at a job at Shreveport-Bossier's newest casino in Shreveport-Bossier.

"There's so much interest and excitement around Margaritaville, I guess I really shouldn't be surprised with it," said Human Resources Manager, David Brossette.

Managers interviewed hundreds of job seekers at the Margaritaville Casino retail store. "The unemployment rate is a lot higher than I thought it was if people are willing to stand outside," said applicant Shay Douglas.

The casino is looking to hire about 80 workers in the following areas:  food and beverage, information technology, surveillance, player development, retail, sales, security, table games, finance hotel, salon/spa,  purchasing/warehouse and events and promotions. But preliminary numbers indicate that more than 500 people applied.

"A lot of people are looking for jobs," said another applicant, Latonya Williams. She said she spent about four hours going through the process.

Andre Jones said the process was made a lot easier by initially applying online, then arriving in person today for the interview.

"I'm just a big fan of work, I like to work," said Jones.

Applicants are encouraged to dress properly and to bring a valid identification and social security card.
