FOX 12 meteorologist Stephanie Kralevich said it's a fragment of a circumhorizontal arc, which is an optical phenomenon formed by plate-shaped ice crystals in high cirrus clouds.

The clouds are common this time of year when the sun is high in the sky and high, thin clouds move by.
