The jury has begun deliberations in the George Zimmerman murder trial.

After receiving instructions from the judge, the jury began deliberations at 1:30 p.m.

They spent the morning listening to the state and defense paint dueling portraits of Zimmerman: a wannabe cop who took the law into his own hands or a well-meaning volunteer who feared for his life in a struggle with the unarmed teenager who was slamming his head into concrete.

The jury of 6 woman will have to decide whether Zimmerman is guilty of second-degree murder or manslaughter in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
