WEBSTER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

A Texas man has been arrested for a road rage incident involving a gun on Interstate 20 in Minden.

A Louisiana State Police trooper was called to investigate around 4:35 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, after a driver heading west on the interstate noticed a 2008 Toyota Tacoma "traveling extremely close" on his rear bumper as the driver made inappropriate hand gestures.

The driver of the Toyota, 62-year-old Leroy Smith of Ft. Worth, Texas, changed lanes and positioned his vehicle alongside the victim's vehicle and pointed a handgun a the victim. That's when the victim told police he immediately slowed down and called 911.

Troopers caught up with and stopped the Toyota on I20 about 11 miles west of where the incident took place. They say Smith admitted to pulled up alongside the victim and pointing a loaded .357 handgun at the victim.

Smith was charged with aggravated assault and booked in Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. If convicted, Smith faces up to a $1,000 fine and six months in prison.
