CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -

A man suspected of stealing several dozen spare tires mounted on vehicles was arrested Wednesday by Chandler police.

Officers said they believe Angel Ortiz, 39, was behind as many as 30 thefts that began surfacing in February in Chandler, Mesa and Gilbert.

Ortiz was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on two counts of trafficking in stolen property, and one count of theft.

Detectives working this case said they believe there are other  victims who have not yet come forward.

Ortiz seemed to favor Jeep Liberty's, Toyota Rav's 4s and Honda CRVs, said Chandler police Detective Seth Tyler. He targeted any vehicle with an exterior spare tire, Tyler said.

In all incidents, Ortiz targeted vehicles that did not have locking lug nuts or other anti-theft devices on the tire.

People who believe they've been victimized are asked to call the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130. Reference police report number 13-67292.
