Cincinnati Reds starter Homer Bailey has been named National League Co-Player of the Week for the period ending July 7, along with Atlanta Braves backstop Brian McCann.

The announcement was made Monday on the MLB Network.

On Tuesday, Bailey pitched the first no-hitter in the MLB this season, throwing 109 pitches at Great American Ball Park for a 3-0 win over the San Francisco Giants.

Previously, Bailey tossed the most recent no-hitter in the MLB on September 28, 2012 against Pittsburgh.

As a result, he is now among four active pitchers with two no-hitters on their resume - Philadelphia's Roy Halladay, Detroit's Justin Verlander and Toronto's Mark Buehrle. He was the 16th no-hitter in franchise history.

In six games last week, Braves' McCann led the MLB in batting average and hits going 15-for-25 for a .600 mark. The six-time NL ALL-Star led the Senior Circuit with a .600 on-base percentage and 22 total bases and ranked second among NL hitters with an .880 slugging percentage.

In recognition of their National League Player of the Week Award, Bailey and McCann will each be awarded a watch courtesy of Game Time.
