BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

A 6-year-old boy with autism has been found after a few hours of searching the Bossier City neighborhood where he went missing Thursday morning.

Bossier City Police Department spokesperson Mark Natale says Gabriel "Jovany" Hernandez is believed to have walked away from his grandmother's house in the 600 block Shaver Street.

The child is autistic and does not speak.

Officers canvassed the area, but it was family members who found the boy a few hours later walking down the railroad tracks about a half-mile from the house.

The fire department checked the boy out and he was found to be in good condition.

Natale says the child's mother, Sylvia Gonzalez, has been issued a citation for child desertion, based on his autism and need for extra supervision.
