CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

The search for school superintendent continues in Caddo Parish, where the district has narrowed its search to seven candidates.

Back in May, the school board voted 6-2 to hire a Nebraska firm to help in its search for a new superintendent. The board's vote brought in McPherson and Jacobson, which is based in Omaha.

Board members made the decision not to renew the contract of Dr. Gerald Dawkins back in January, and his contract will expire on Aug. 12.

The district on Wednesday released the names of the 7 candidates who remain, and KSLA News 12 gathered some information about each one:

Romain Dalleman of Macon, Georgia was forced out by the Bibb County School in February. Dalleman was a candidate for the presidency at Florida A&M University.

John Dilworth of Bossier City has worked in Montgomery, Alabama. He returned to Louisiana for family reasons.

John P. Green of Suwanee, Georgia was a member of the Jackson County Schools, from which he resigned as superintendent in May.

Jerry O. Payne of Pine Bluff, Arkansas worked for the Pine Bluff School board but was fired in June 2012.

Agnella K. Perera of Smithfield, Virginia is Superintendent of Isle Wight County Schools. She is a 2013 doctoral candidate in Education Leadership and Policy Studies at Virginia Tech.

Mary Nash Robinson, Caddo Parish's Chief of Staff, was one of three finalists in the running for the City of Monroe's next superintendent.

Theodore Thompson of Alexandria, Virginia is Deputy Chief of the Office of School Turnaround for the D.C. Public Schools. Thompson held the position of Deputy Chief Academic Officer for the School District of Philadelphia, managing the Office of Secondary School Reform. He has also served as a K-12 principal in the Columbus City School District for one of the first public, African-centered schools in the country.

The Caddo Parish School Board is working to select a new superintendent by July 30.
