SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport Police are looking for four or five drivers suspected of hitting a man who walked into traffic traveling on I-220.

Shreveport Police Cpl. Marcus Hines says just after 11 p.m. on June 30, officers responded to a call about a man running along I-220 at Jefferson Paige Road being hit by several vehicles. Witnesses told police they saw the man run across the highway and into the path of a pickup truck. Hines said the man was hit by four or five other vehicles after he was knocked to the ground by the truck. The pickup stopped, but the other vehicles did not.

Investigators later discovered the man was driving his Mazda 3 west on Jefferson Paige Road when he clipped the center median at Rose Street. Investigators say the car kept going west in the eastbound lane until it hit another median where Jefferson Paige Road goes over I-220. That hit sent the car over a bridge railing and down to the shoulder of I-220, catching fire on the way down.

The driver of the pickup who first hit the man was given a drug and alcohol test, while police actively search for the other drivers and vehicles involved. Hines said the crash is still under investigation. They're also trying to positively identify the victim.
