Politifact Virginia: Herring on gay marriage

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

In this week's Politifact Virginia report- gay marriage could be a big story on the campaign trail. The democratic candidate for attorney general, Mark Herring, voted to ban gay marriage in 2006 while in the state senate. But now he says he supports gay marriage.

His change of heart ranks as a full flop and Politifact Reporter Sean Gorman said this ruling is pretty straight forward.

"Well Herring acknowledged in a recent debate that his position on this issue had changed, he said he had given the issue a lot of thought, he had spoken to constituents. He said, in his own words, he believes in marriage equality," said Gorman.
