SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport Fire Investigators charged Donald Richmond with simple arson Friday in connection with Wednesday's fire at 2960 Nena St.

Richmond was arrested by Shreveport Police on June 26 for unrelated charges and was already in jail when he was charged with the one count of simple arson.

The fire happened about 7:15 a.m. on the outside of the home in the back. Authorities say the fire was quickly put out.

Fire Investigators were called out, and their investigation led to the additional charge of simple arson for Richmond.

There were no injuries suffered from the fire.

Simple arson carries a penalty, if convicted, of 2-15 years in prison.
