SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport Police have captured a man they suspect is linked to a shooting that injured another man back in April.

Rodriquez Smith, 32, was arrested about 9 p.m. Thursday and charged with illegal use of a weapon. He was caught while in the parking lot of a convenience store located at the intersection of East 70th Street and Southern Avenue.

Police say the arrest is linked to an incident that occurred on April 7, when they responded to the 200 block of East 78th Street to reports of a man having been shot while at another location.

On scene at the home, officers met with the shooting victim, who is identified as Tyrel Diggs, 23, of Shreveport.

Police say that their investigation revealed that Diggs was at A.B.Palmer Park when a dispute erupted between him and another man known to him.

During the dispute, Diggs indicated that the suspect  produced a hand gun a shot him in the leg. Diggs, who received minor injury, was treated on scene for his injuries.

Smith is booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
