Vann steps down as ETBU tennis coach

Posted: Updated:

After two years of being the head coach and starting the tennis program at East Texas Baptist University, Joe Vann has resigned his position.  Vann has accepted the position as assistant tennis coach at the University of Texas-Tyler.

"We appreciate Coach Vann and his getting the program started at ETBU and now wish him the best of luck in the future," says director of athletics Kent Reeves.

Vann, who is a graduate of Texas-Tyler, started the ETBU tennis program in 2011-12 overlooking both programs from the start.  This year, he produced ETBU's first-ever ASC award winner as Tyler Tolopka was named the ASC East's men's tennis "Freshman of the Year."

ETBU will begin a search immediately to fill Vann's position.
