SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

They are some of Jimmy Buffet's biggest fans, and there's a growing local chapter in the Shreveport-Bossier area.

But the The Pirates of the Red Parrot Head Club are interested in more than just "wasting away in Margaritaville." They're also looking for a ways to do good for the community.

They've only been in the area for just over a year, but from community volunteering to fundraising, their more than 250 members are ready to party with a purpose. In fact, it's their motto.

"Anytime there's an event where they need volunteers, we want them to know that we're here. We have a lot of people that actually get involved with that. We do fundraisers and we meet once a month for Happy Hour," says Juan Aguilar, president of the local Parrot Heads club.

The club is having a "hurricane party" to benefit the Alzheimer's Association Shreveport coming up on Saturday, July 6. It's from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Krewe of Gemini den at 2101 East Texas St. in Bossier City.

Tickets are $25 for everyone 21 and up. It's $10 dollars for those aged 13 to 20 and free for those 12 and under.
