SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police have released the name of the victim of a deadly stabbing over the weekend.

56-year-old Robert Williams was found stabbed to death his apartment at the Cambridge Apartments on Mansfield Road just after 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

Williams' girlfriend, 39-year-old Betty Terrell is in jail, charged with second degree murder. Police say she stabbed Williams in the upper body when a heated argument turned violent.

Neighbor Billy Holiday says they heard the couple arguing that night. "She said she was going to end it and she left around 11:30, 11:50 and I didn't see her again until they told me what happened last night."

The neighbors say it was nothing out of the ordinary to hear the couple arguing, and says he's really not all that surprised that it ended this way. "In a way it is but in a way it's not because, like I said, she said it and they always arguing so the arguing, they be fighting and then it leads to physical arguments."

Holiday says Williams did not deserve this.  "He was a good man, kind-hearted man. He didn't even deserve to be with that woman. I tried to tell him but you can't help who you love."

Police continue to investigate why the fatal stabbing took place.
