WINNFIELD, LA (KSLA) - Police are in Winnfield still trying to determine why an up-and-coming rap artist from Jonesboro was murdered early Thursday morning.
Winnfield Police say 18-year-old Addarren Ross (known as rapper Lil' Snupe) was fatally shot twice in the chest just after 4:00 a.m. at the Maplewood Apartments in the 1900 block of S. Jones Street.
Police say they are searching for an unidentified "person of interest" but have not established a motive for the shooting.
News of the rapper's death began to circulate on social media Thursday morning, and was quickly picked up by music and hip hop industry web sites, including billboard.com and MTV.com.
Multiple sources report that Lil Snupe had recently signed with Philadelphia-based hip hop recording artist Meek Mill's Dream Chaser label.
