SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Around 5,000 customers are without power in the AEP SWEPCO coverage area after storms rolled through the ArkLaTex Tuesday afternoon.

That's down from around 13,000 at the height of the storms, but restoration may not come for some until Wednesday afternoon, according to SWEPCO spokesperson Kacee Kirschvink.

There were about 4,700 outages in the Shreveport, Bossier, Mansfield Haughton and Vivian areas as of 4:40 p.m. Another 100 have no electricity in Marshall and 45 outages have been reported in Longview.

While winds weren't the most prominent feature of the storms, they did bring heavy rains and flash flooding, soaking the ground and weakening soil around the roots of trees.

SWEPCO says they have crews working to repair the outages as quickly and as safely as possible, but with the storms continuing to stick around it's possible that still more customers could lose power before its all over.
