The body of one of two men feared drowned last weekend on the Red River in Miller County has been found.

Arkansas Fish & Game agents were called Thursday morning to an area several miles downstream from where 60-year-old Bill Cooper of Utah and 57-year-old John Fairbanks were thrown into the water when their boat capsized last Friday afternoon near the Hwy. 82 boat ramp in Garland City.

A third passenger on the fishing boat, 29-year-old Julia Lopez of Texarkana was pulled from the water.

Agents with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission searched for days, in conditions that had been made difficult by high waters.

On Thursday morning, some fishermen spotted what appeared to be a body floating the river. they called authorities and kept an eye on it until agents arrived. The body was recovered and brought to the landing near County Road 8 in southern Miller County.
