SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A 23-year-old Shreveport woman was killed and 6 others were injured Wednesday in West Shreveport in a wreck involving three vehicles.

According to the Caddo Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit, a north-bound GMC Envoy crossed the center line in the 9300 block of Woolworth Rd. and hit 23-year-old Jonne Dixon's Nissan Altima, causing her to lose control. Her car was then hit by an oncoming Chevy Trailblazer.

The GMC flipped and slid on its side nearly 500 feet, says Shreveport Fire Chief Louis Johnson. There were three children and one adult in the GMC and two in the Trailblazer.

Dixon, who was alone in the Nissan, had to be cut from the car. She suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to LSU Medical Center where she later died.

The two people in the Chevy Trailblazer, 27-year-old Ashley Wimberly of Keithville, and her passenger, 36-year-old Billy Flowers of Shreveport, were sent by ambulance to Willis-Knighton Bossier City with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the GMC Envoy, 24-year -old Kimberly Estes of Keithville, and the three children in her car, were taken to LSU Medical Center by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The SPD is investigating.
