An East Texas woman is behind bars on Monday after stabbing her boyfriend in the arm over the weekend.

According to the Harrison County Sheriff' Department, Doretha Bowman, 45, stabbed her boyfriend, Rickey Don Johnson, 53, of Harleton, in the arm in the early morning hours Sunday after a female neighbor wished him "Happy Birthday." Deputies say they had been outside drinking and, when the neighbor wished Johnson "happy birthday," Bowman became irate and went inside. When Johnson followed her, Bowman reportedly stabbed her boyfriend.

When deputies arrived at the home, located in the 200 block of Hillside Dr in Harleton, they found Bowman on the porch crying while she was waiting for her daughter to arrive. She then showed deputies a knife that is believed to have been used during the assault.

Johnson was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall, where he was treated and released. Bowman was arrested and taken to the Harrison County Jail. She was arraigned and her bond has been set at $50,000.
