KSLA News 12 Editorial: June 10, 2013-Food Bank

Posted: Updated:

Thousands of people living in the ArkLaTex are faced with not having enough food to eat.

Many have to decide between buying medicine or buying food, paying their electric bill or buying food, or paying the rent or buying food. That's when the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana comes to the rescue.

The food bank provides food and household items to 120 non-profit organizations in our area. Those organizations then identify people in need and help them out. More than 70,000 people are helped through this program every year. All that food has to come from somewhere and that's where we come in. As we enter the summer months, the pantry is getting low and donations of cash and food are needed.

For more information you can call the number on the screen, 318-675-2400, or go to the food bank website for information on how to donate or volunteer. This is a chance to help people right here in our own community.

I'm James Smith.
