SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A car wash fundraiser in Shreveport Saturday raised several hundred dollars to go toward the care of a recent Byrd High School graduate seriously injured in a wreck on Clyde Fant Parkway last month.

17-year-old Amber Lacy one of 5 Byrd High School graduates riding in a Honda Civic that was struck by a pickup truck as it was pulling out of the entrance to the Island Park Apartments on May 20.

The Civic spun across the roadway before coming to a stop, and Lacy had to be cut from the car by EMTs using the "jaws of life."

Everyone survived and was out of the hospital in a matter of days, but Lacy suffered a traumatic brain injury.  Last week, she was transferred to Our Children's House at Baylor University in Dallas for rehabilitation.

The car wash was held at the McDonald's on Bert Kouns and Linwood, where Lacy works.
