CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Caddo Parish Deputies say charges are pending against a man they say shot at his ex-wife and her husband but hit only a 9-year-old boy who was visiting one of the houses.

John Lloyd Ferguson, 35, was booked Wednesday into the Caddo Correctional Center on charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery, no driver's license on person, parish probation violation, in-state fugitive.

The arrest follows a shooting that occurred about 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 7300 block of Millwood in Shreveport.

Deputies say the residence is next door to the home of Ferguson's ex-wife and her current husband, Jeremy Stewart, 34.

They say Ferguson, armed with a .22-caliber rifle, exchanged words with his ex-wife and Stewart, who were next door. When Ferguson allegedly fired his rifle toward the couple, Stewart went inside his residence and returned with a revolver.

Authorities say Stewart shot twice in the ground before chasing Ferguson. Stewart also struck Ferguson several times with the revolver.

Stewart then called 911 as Ferguson ran into the woods.

Deputies say they later found Ferguson on Rusty Road at a house where he was staying less than a mile away from the shooting.

Authorities say a 9-year-old boy who was visiting one of the houses on Millwood was hit by pellets from Ferguson's rifle, but the boy did not require medical treatment.

Ferguson was taken to LSU Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Upon his release, he will be booked into Caddo Correctional Center, according to Detective Andy Scoggins.
