NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) -

A 20-year-old man is behind bars in Natchitoches, the subject of an investigation in which authorities say they linked him to a fight that led to a shooting death Thursday night.

Detectives arrested Russell Remo, 20, of Natchitoches, on one count of manslaughter and booked him into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. His bond has not been set.

Natchitoches authorities say the incident began with a disturbance call in the 700 block of Abbie Drive. That's where one man told police that he had been attacked by another man.

Just as officers were responding to that call, they received another call about a red SUV had just crashed into a house at Abbie Drive and Clarence Drive. The caller told police that the driver appeared to have been shot.

Police say the victim, Christopher Robinson, 24, was shot once in the upper chest during the fight at the house on Abbie Drive. After being shot, Robinson drove around the corner and crashed his SUV into a house.

After determining that the fight and the crash calls were related to the same incident, authorities began an investigation that led to an arrest.

Police say their investigation is closed.
