A truck crashed into the Tyler Area Builders Association's building on Grande Avenue early Sunday morning leaving it heavily damaged. However, the open house scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, to kick off ticket sales for the 60th Annual Parade of Homestm will go on as planned.
Officials tell the Tyler Area Builders Association that two trucks were racing and one lost control, flipping several times and ending up in the east corner of the building.
"We hope the driver is OK," said Libby Simmons, executive vice president of TABA. "But the good news, is the Open House on Tuesday and then the Parade starting on Saturday are still going as planned."
The 60th Parade will take place June 1-9. Hours will be: Saturdays 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Sundays 2 – 6 p.m.; Monday - Thursday 5 - 8 p.m.; and Friday 3 - 8 p.m.
The location of the participating homes is public once tickets go on sale. Although, no one will be allowed in the homes until the Parade officially begins on June 1. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the TABA office on Grande Boulevard or at each of the homes on the Parade. A list of ticket sale locations is included on the TABA website. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit Azleway Boys' Home and Rockin' C Ranch's Camp Courageous for special needs children.
