TICKFAW, LA (WAFB) -

Authorities said a 51-year-old man was taken into custody after assaulting someone and then resisting arrest early Friday morning.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office said Daniel Bridges of Tickfaw was arrested on charges of battery, resisting arrest by force (2 counts) and battery on a police officer around 2:30 a.m.

Bridges is accused of physically assaulting someone at a home on LA 42 in Tickfaw. Responding deputies reported he also was aggressive and physical with them.

According to reports, Bridges started hitting and kicking deputies in an attempt to get away while they were detaining him.

He was still behind bars at 8 a.m.
