The Arizona Cardinals announced Thursday that the team had reached a four year deal with Tyrann Mathieu.
The team did not disclose the financial terms of Mathieu's contract, but NFL.com's Albert Breer reported it's a four-year, $3.052 million deal that comes with an initial signing bonus of $265,000. The remainder of the $662,500 bonus will be paid over the next three years
"I never doubted it," Mathieu said of getting the chance to sign an NFL contract. "I knew it was a long shot and it would be a process, but to finally sit down and sign my name on the dotted line means a lot to me."
The former LSU star begins his career at safety and will team up with fellow Tiger and NFL Pro Bowl defensive back Patrick Peterson.
Mathieu was the Cardinals third round draft pick in this years's NFL Draft.
