SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

An arrest has been made in connection with a shootout Wednesday involving two cars with children inside.

It happened around 5:30 PM on Mansfield Road near the intersection with Murray Street.

Police say a woman was riding in a car with her boyfriend when her ex-boyfriend, identified by police as 23-year-old Oquez Allen, spotted them, pulled up alongside their vehicle and started shouting.

After that, Allen allegedly got out of his car armed with a handgun. According to police, the woman got out of her vehicle with her small child and could only watch as Allen allegedly fired more than 10 rounds into the car occupied by her boyfriend.

Police say her boyfriend fired back in Allen's direction, who fled the scene in a black sedan. Police say there was a child in that vehicle at the time of the shooting, too.

The victim's vehicle was found a short time later, riddled with bullet holes at a home several blocks away on Clover street.

In spite of more than a dozen bullets being fired, no one was hit.

The ex-boyfriend was picked up an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Milam a short time later and taken to the Shreveport Police Department for questioning, before he was arrested and charged with one count of illegal use of a weapon.

No other arrests were made.
