Code enforcement looking into drainage dispute in Pride

PRIDE, LA (WAFB) -

A little rain has turned into a huge problem for one Baton Rouge woman. Puddles are all over her yard and the water is now coming into the house. Code enforcement officials say they are now taking a look at what the problem could be.

"It's very frustrating. I'll tell you, I won't bite my tongue to tell you," said Aline Newman.

Rain is the four letter word that gets Aline Newman's blood boiling. She says the pond on her neighbor's property is draining in her yard, leaving several blue puddles. That blue tint she says is the same coloring that is in the pond.

Newman says not only is it affecting her yard, towels are down in her bathroom where water has been gushing in under the toilet.

The McGraw's, who live next door, say just because their property is higher doesn't mean their pond is causing the problem. In fact, they say the city dug a ditch behind their home where most of the neighborhood drains into a creek.

"Anybody can see who's causing it," Newman said.

A code enforcement officer for the parish says they have talked with Newman. Thursday they plan to take a drainage engineer out to see if there is a problem.
