Threat of severe weather prompts early pickups, but no early school dismissals

TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

Parents kept a wary eye on the skies Tuesday as severe weather approached the ArkLaTex.

Some showed up to pick their children up early from school at Morris Elementary at Morris Elementary in Texarkana, TX, just as a tornado warning was issued for Bowie County just before 2 p.m.

Some parents expressed particular concern, after witnessing the destruction in Moore, Oklahoma on Monday that flattened

According to Principal Rick Sandlin, students and staff took precautions by going to the "safe places" in the school, like bathrooms and hallways.

Classes were not dismissed early as a result of the threatening weather, but the children were allowed to go home early with their parents.

There have been reports of power lines down in the New Boston area as well as a possible funnel sighting, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
