SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport Police have arrested a man who shot a woman in a strip mall parking lot Thursday afternoon before driving away in a black pickup.

The shooting happened shortly after 3 p.m. in the parking lot before the Paycheck Loans storefront at 9447 Mansfield Road, where the shooting victim works, says police Cpl. Marcus Hines.

After leaving work, the woman got into a pickup truck parked in front of the build and was sitting inside the pickup with 50-year-old Rodney Marshall when he shot her in the leg. The woman broke away from Marshall and ran into the Break-N-Run Bar at 7504 Mansfield Rd. and fell onto the floor. The Break-N-Run is next door to Paycheck Loans, says Break-N-Run Manager Theresa Smith.

A Break-N-Run bartender and its owner helped the screaming woman and called 911, Smith says. The woman was taken to LSU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Marshall sped off in his truck heading north on Mansfield and was later arrested. He was taken to the Shreveport City Jail and charged with attempted second degree murder.

Police remain unclear about the nature of the relationship between the woman and Marshall.
