More post season awards are coming in for a very successful 2013 East Texas Baptist University softball team as four players were named NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) All-West Region.  Lacy Liles, Shelby Parker, Alyssa Romero, and Kayla Garcia were all named to west region teams.

Liles leads the way being named to the first team and is now eligible to be named an All-American.  This past weekend she was named to the NCAA All-Regional Tournament team and she is also an All-ASC East first-team selection.  She led the team in batting (.417), hits (60), doubles (15), triples (4), home runs (8), and RBI (47).  In 144 at-bats, she only struck out twice and she posted a .743 slugging percentage with eight stolen bases.  On defense at first base, she had a .992 fielding percentage with only three errors and 380 put outs.  In the American Southwest Conference she is in 10 different categories in the top 10.

Earning second team status were Parker and Romero.  Parker had a phenomenal year as a pitcher going 15-4 with 139 strikeouts and a 1.87 ERA.  This is her fourth award this year as she was All-ASC East first-team and then voted onto both the ASC and NCAA Regional All-Tournament teams.  She has recorded nine shutouts, made 27 appearances, and completed 18 games.  She only walked 20 batters the entire year.

Romero earns her second award this year as a second team selection after being All-ASC East first-team.  She is fifth on the team in batting average at .349 and produced 53 hits, seven doubles, seven home runs, and 42 RBI.  In the outfield she had only one error with a .938 fielding percentage.

Being voted onto the third team is Kayla Garcia.  She has played and started all 49 games and is second on the team in batting at .366.  She is tied for the team lead in hits with 60 and has 12 doubles, three triples, one home run, and 28 RBI.  She stole 15 bases and produced a .494 slugging percentage.  She was an All-ASC honorable mention selection, too.

ETBU ended the season in the NCAA Regional Championship game and had a 37-12 record.  They also won the ASC Tournament Championship which was their seventh overall.
