A Plain Dealing woman is lucky to be alive after flames rushed through her bedroom Thursday morning.
Firefighters say around 1:30 a.m. they responded to a fire at a home on Highway 537. When they arrived, the bedroom was in flames. Firefighters say an elderly woman was in her bedroom watching T.V. when she felt heat on her back. That's when she got out of the house and called 911.
It took firefighters 20 minutes to get the fire under control. No injuries were reported. The bedroom was badly burned. The home also suffered smoke damage. Firefighters say they gave the woman clothes because her belongings in the bedroom were destroyed in the fire.
Firefighters say right now, it's too early to know about donations.
