A mother and her two daughters are safe after a vigilant neighbor spotted flames shooting out of their home Wednesday night.
Assistant Fire Chief Fred Sanders says a woman and her daughter were on the front porch about 10:30 p.m. when a neighbor alerted them to smoke and flames coming from the rear of their house in 1200 block of Crofton Street.
Sanders says the fire started in a bedroom at the back of the house.
Firefighters say the back bedroom was badly burned. The rest of the home suffered some smoke and heat damage.
No cause has been determined, but an investigation is ongoing.
