Sneak Peek inside new Margaritaville Casino Resort

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - The 205 million dollar mega project known as the Margaritaville Resort Casino is quickly taking shape, both inside and outside of the newest resort casino in Shreveport-Bossier. It promises a 'casual elegance' that developers hope will attract lots and lots of visitors. And with so much to see, KSLA News 12 got our latest sneak peek this week inside Margaritaville.

"The stage will be right over there," pointed Glenn Buxton, during his guided tour inside Margaritaville. This marketing vice president beamed with pride, showing every nook and cranny of this place including the 30-thousand square foot, single-level casino. "We're going to have around 12-hundred and fifty slot and video machines and about 55-table games right now," added Buxton, during our tour.

The entire complex is humming with activity, from the bottom-level pool area to the top of the 18th floor hotel and everything in between, including a 900-seat performance hall, and four dining venues, including the two-story Margaritaville Restaurant.

The ambience might scream 'casual elegance' but the underlying theme is all about convenience, explained Buxton. "These will be table games in this area and then over there where you see the lights up, those are going to be table games too. And then that's the 5-O'Clock Bar and then the performance hall that you're looking at."

Our crew even got their first peek at one of the seven specially-designed, wood-topped bars with 103 or so Jimmy Buffett pictures sealed atop them, which came with very exacting instructions on how to make them, as employee Gary Grover explained: "Yep, gave me a blueprint, place all the pictures, basically get one shot, everything's copyrighted so you don't get to make (laugh) extras."

And if you think it looks busy inside Margaritaville Casino Resort while its under construction, it will be quite a sight to see once the guests, gamblers and 15-hundred employees begin to fill this social mixer by next month.

As for the exact date that it opens, developers will only say mid-June at this point, with the first hotel reservations beginning about June 20th. We hope to know more in the next week or two, as construction efforts begin to wind down.
