Backpack found at clinic "non-hazardous," some in custody for questioning

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport women's clinic was evacuated Thursday afternoon, following the discovery of a suspicious backpack on the property.

Shreveport police and the Shreveport Fire Department bomb squad were called to the scene at the Hope Medical Group for Women in the 200 block of Kings Hwy. just before 3 p.m.

A robot was sent in to "to render the package safe." On closer inspection, officials say the contents of the backpack were "non-hazardous." They are not saying exactly what was found.

Police also confirm that they do have people in custody for questioning, but they are not saying how many.

A section of Kings Highway was shut down for just over an hour, but has since re-opened.
