Fishing trips ends with reeling in pickup truck

A day of fishing on the Red River ended with two men reeling in their pickup truck and trailer from the water Tuesday night.

Miller County, Arkansas emergency crews were called out to the Red River under the Index Bridge just before 10 p.m. When they got there, they found a pickup truck, trailer and boat all stuck in the water. It took emergency crews, two wreckers and a diver three hours to get it all out of nearly 20 feet of water.

"I think that they were trying to load their boat onto the trailer and somehow or another it just slipped into neutral or let their foot off the brake and it just went into the river," says Miller County, Arkansas EMT Larry Pritcherd.

No one was injured. But the truck did come out full of filth and water.

Officials say this is the second time they've responded to this type of incident in the past three months.
