SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Byrd High School senior critically injured in a car wreck back in January is out of the hospital and back home.
It's another major milestone in the progress of 17-year-old Stuti Jawahar, who just started talking again only a few weeks ago.
Stuti was left in a coma after a near-fatal accident on the way to school in January. Since then, thousands have offered their prayers and support for the teen and her family. When she wasn't quite ready to attend her real high school prom recently, friends brought the prom to Stuti in rehab.
According to the family's Pray for Stuti Facebook page, Stuti was released from the Pierrmont Rehabilitation Center on Saturday and will continue her recovery at home.
The joyus update read, in part, "She slept late today, woke up to ask for cookies from her mom, hung out with friends, ate chips and salsa and, get this, is gone with Zachary to visit her friend Molly! What a sight it was for us when we saw her
walking out the door with Zachary and telling us Bye!"
Stuti is set to graduate with the rest of her class in May.
