With their season on the line the LSU Shreveport Pilots responded with an 8-2 thumping of the NAIA's no. 3 team in the nation, the Northwood Knights, on Sunday afternoon at Pilot Field. The win evens the season series with two wins for each school. The Pilots advance to play Texas College tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. as both teams face elimination.
Cade Bowen (5-3) was magnificent when it mattered most logging seven and 2/3 tough innings allowing only two earned runs with three walks and three strikeouts. He finished the day tossing 124 pitches.
The Pilots (37-16) used a six-run third inning on five hits with Pilots coming through with hit after hit. Parker Hebert picked a good time to deliver his only hit of the contest, a two-run single at the tail end of the rally.
LSUS had four hitters with multi-hits tonight K. J. Semien finished 2-for-4 with a run batted in along with Greg Friesen, Reed Lavallee, Kade Billeaudeaux, and Kym Barthel all had two hits.
